Cacti in Grandmother’s Pots
Hand-printed, hand-colored linocut
HONORABLE MENTION
Artist Statement
I love succulents and cacti. They always remind me of the cacti that were on my grandmother’s windowsill as I was growing up. And I wanted to use the wonderful pots that were left in my mother-in-law’s shed. So this is an homage to two pretty wonderful grandmothers.
I grew up on a farm west of Boise, and I still love growing stuff! Vegetables, flowers, cacti, succulents…. It’s so satisfying. And being surrounded by greenery and beauty is kind of like living in a sanctuary. It’s very peaceful. I love bringing this imagery into my art. Along with my sister imagery. They’re both part of who I am.
