Artist Statement
I started making this piece early December 2021. I had been experimenting with techniques from artist Joe Martino, and was satisfied with my progress when I heard news about the sudden death of a close family friend of mine. She was a retired military medic, a mother, and a wild child at heart. She taught me to live with daring passion. I finished this painting shortly after, naming and dedicating it to her. I try to imagine a world where this didn’t happen, but accepting it, I can only hope that one day we’ll meet again.
