The Color of Melting Snow
Oil and Charcoal on 2″ Cradled Amperstand Gessobord
Artist Statement
The Color of Melting Snow is part of an ongoing series Riverbank Stories. When I arrived in Boise two years ago I was spellbound by the fast flowing Boise River. The mountains still had their snow and the leaves were not green yet flower blossoms had begun to form. That color of the snow melt river its indescribable green/grey/blue, its rushing sound and the gentle pale golden sunlight created a sensory memory that was had to forget. In this painting I used the bare tree branches as structures and containment but allowed the color to flow freely across the boundaries.
