The Thunderstorm at the Lake of Broken Flowers
Oil and Charcoal on 2″ Cradled Amperstand Gessobord
Artist Statement
The Thunderstorm at the Lake of Broken Flowers is part of a series called Cherry Blossom Season. This abstract landscape was created from a memory of a fast flowing
river carrying fallen blossoms and petals from the flowering c trees after a sudden rain storm. The blossoms swirled and flowed across the river stones and tree shadows as the sun broke through. I used charcoal for the tree shape/shadows and loose paint to create the blur and after image of the flowing water.
