Artists Statement
On my daily walks, I love seeing the remaining ranches and farms before they are gone and replaced. The colors and contrasts capture my imagination. The trees and bushes are fully leafed out in summer and contrast with the growing crops nearby.
Artist Bio
Born in Los Angeles in 1955, I have been making art since childhood. I was encouraged by my mother, an artist, and, although I never met him, my mother’s father, a wood carver. I received a BA in Art from University of California, Santa Cruz where I fell in love with landscape painting, whether done in plein air or in the studio interpreting the natural world around me. I have been a dentist for the past 35 years, working in a correctional environment. Art has always been my refuge and how I see and interpret the world around me.
