Artists Statement
Open grassland with trees and a glimpse of a mountain in the background; I am drawn to the contrasts of dried grasses and irrigated crops nearby.
Artist Bio
Born in Los Angeles in 1955, I have been making art since childhood. I was encouraged by my mother, an artist, and, although I never met him, my mother’s father, a wood carver. I received a BA in Art from University of California, Santa Cruz where I fell in love with landscape painting, whether done in plein air or in the studio interpreting the natural world around me. I have been a dentist for the past 35 years, working in a correctional environment. Art has always been my refuge and how I see and interpret the world around me.
