Artist Statement
The creative process for this painting was very exciting. I used modeling paste and glue to add texture to this canvas in hopes to explore some of the different hues of this very dark purple paint which I found irresistible. I loved playing with the depth of color and seeing the variations emerge from an intoxicating black, purple paint. Additional hues of purple were added along with drips of purple acrylic ink to enhance the image which was based off a sketch of a succulent. Purple is royal, beautiful, and enchanting; with the ability to be both soothing and unsettling.
