Artist Statement
In abstract art, you don’t always know what you are looking at. Is it a tunnel? Is it a pyramid? The definition is in the eye of the viewer.
I am a modern Fauvist artist fascinated with geology and in representing the land and its inhabitants. Fauvism seeks to separate color from its descriptive, representational purpose and allow it to exist on the canvas as an independent element without having to be true to the natural world. My primary medium is oil painting and my goal in my art is to emphasize humanity’s connection to nature. I love “human” characteristics of animals and seek to portray that in my art. My husband and I are blessed to live and work in such an amazing and beautiful community.
