Artist Statement
I love the sagebrush and basalt of Southern Idaho. I tend to haunt the area above the Snake River hiking through sagebrush, learning, snooping and watching. This digital painting created on an iPad records my view of this wide-open space. There are mountains in the distance, sagebrush and its partner plants, basalt rock with ubiquitous old fence posts and barbed wire and a charming little Rock Wren.
When Cindi Walton took her first art class she walked into the local art store clutching her supply list. The owner asked if he could help her. She smiled and said, “Yes, as soon as I touch every single thing in this store.” Cindi now has a BFA, had a Christmas card company and now manages her art business. If not in the studio she spends her time in the wild places of Idaho that inspire her. Cindi paints with acrylics on canvas, gouache and her iPad and Apple Pencil. Most of the time, she begins with a sharpened pencil.
