Artist Statement
Most recent of series.
Inspiration: My niece knocked over the still life and this is how she replaced it.
Lighting: Blue front lowlight and red sidelight from above.
Style: Conceptual and surreal. Palette knife alla prima.
Challenge: Painting it alla prima meant it had to be painted in one day. When I had to make a major change keeping the wet-on-wet look. Painting in dim blue light.
Development: Many people struggle with change. I wanted to depict the struggle, learning to handle change and even overcoming it.
Story: Instead of fighting change maybe we can overcome it by embracing it.
