Herald for a New Season
oil on canvas
Milkweed, asclepias, is a critical species for the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. It is also a symbol of ephemeral beauty, something admired for it’s present state, but the seedpod perpetuates a promise for the future.
My art uses observation based subjects as a way to stay intimately connected to life in each moment. Some spiritual themes are symbolic of my feelings concerning my role within the world.
My work throughout time includes several subjects including people and pets. But my love of the outdoors is revealed in my periodic return to the topic of landscape. As I experience the broad vistas in Idaho a wider view can be seen in many of my present paintings.
