Artist Statement
Gitanjali is a book of 103 poems written by the Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore. Gitanjali is a series of poems that express a man’s search for the divine and are sublime. Tagore was the first non-Westerner to win the Nobel Prize for literature in 1913 based largely on this book. I did a painting for each of 103 poems in the book. They are done in a style inspired by Indian Kangra painting of the 17th-19th centuries. Floating World Editions published the my illustrated version of the book and recently a Chinese publisher has done the same.
