Artist Statement
“Journey” is a representation of my artistic evolution, from kindergarten crayons to oils as a professional. I work with individuals to map out their own journeys then creatively portray them in a pictograph timeline.
From pastel animal “portraits” in elementary school, to renderings of family and friends in oils today, my art journey has been a long and rewarding one. To capture not only a likeness but a sense of place or moment in time is a special feeling. I have appreciated the ability to learn from great teachers both in person and now via zoom, or YouTube webinars. Finding my own “”voice”” has been a challenge, but retirement and the pandemic have provided the opportunity to devote more time to developing my own style and has provided a creative outlet for maintaining sanity.
