Where the Mountain Fell

Artist Statement
This scene was painted off of Highway 95 headed toward Riggins. The slide happened in July, 2020. Although it caused havoc and blocked the road for months, I was attracted to the beautiful colors of the rocks that were exposed with the slide. I sat in a field opposite the highway and enjoyed painting the scene accompanied by my dog. The heat of the sun and bugs were my biggest challenge!
My mother said I was born an artist. Art is what I love! I’ve never been far from art workshops, class or anything to do with the art. I was volunteered to teach art at a school in Nampa where my children attended. A friend rekindled my passion by inviting me to a Pleinaire competition. With my children raised, this is a beautiful time in my life. By the rivers, on the mountain or in the backwoods, that’s where you will find me. Nature has become my most beloved art teacher.
