Artist Statement
How do you capture the sudden moment of change in a single image? The moment here is the light shift of winter’s change to the beginnings of spring. The thawing ice, the soft light on the bare trees, the awakening of the river’s waters, is a soft veil of light and color through the clouds. I digitally layered three individual images, printed them on watercolor paper and used acrylic and acrylic markers to finish the piece.
I am an artist who paints stories that speak of time, place, and nature. My artwork is a contemporary fiction composed of fragments of thought, place, time, emotion, and dream. I am primarily a painter, but tell my stories using printmaking, mixed media, photography and digital artwork. Each work is always finished and painted by hand. I have a BFA, MA, and MFA in Painting, Drawing and Printmaking
