Artist Statement
Peonies sometimes have a longer lifespan than people… But what’s truly beautiful, what connects us to each other and to the earth, doesn’t go out of fashion with passing years. I found an inscription in cement in another part in my yard-“for Dotty.” Dotty’s peonies come back every year, startling me every time from my thoughts about my own life, blooming in wild, brief profusion.
