Artist Statement
Painting Marilyn was quite a challenge, as it took multiple tries to get the poutiness of her mouth just right, and her alluring sexy eyes, both of which were her trademarks. I’m very detailed oriented so I always strive to create art that looks realistic and lifelike. I’ve always had a creative side but finally realized that painting is my passion. I haven’t ever marketed my paintings but my hope is start doing that soon and do some commissioned paintings as well as Giclee’s of paintings like this one that I want to keep.
I’ve always had a creative side but eventually discovered that my real passion is creating artwork. My favorite medium to paint with is acrylic since it dries so quickly. I’ve mostly painted portraits, which are probably the most challenging, as details of their face need to be exact, especially when it’s of a recognizable famous person. I’m a very detail-oriented person so when I create a painting, I strive to make it as realistic and lifelike as possible, and many times have to paint over some features multiple times until I feel I’ve captured the look just right.
