Thunder
Acrylic
Artist Statement
I can only imagine a crow flying overhead announcing, then the ground shaking, sounds of these mighty mammals rolling across the Idaho landscape. “Tatanka” is the Lakota word for bison. For Idaho they were American bison hunted as a source of food and materials by the Shoshone-Bannock tribe. They are a nomadic freely traveling “Thunder” on the Southern Idaho plains. The Idaho artist wanted to paint such a massive form sprinting from the direction of history.
