The Pharaoh Sees It All

Artists Statement
Pharaoh is justified.
It’s sad, this need to explain my affair with orange. My use of this dazzler in recent paintings is distressing due to the resistance I had to using it in the early years of my career. Brown, purple, and orange were not well-respected in art school and left in the tube, mostly. Not considered serious contenders for representation. Culpable not capable. I now appreciate this hue and hope I do it honor. Here are three pieces to consider in their orangeness.
Artist Bio
I studied two years at L.A. Art Center and graduated with honors from Cal Arts (Choiunard), 1969. I’ve been a working artist the last three years in Medford, OR. Interim years leave a faint impression – art wasn’t my life. Current stuff represents my found inner self. I’ve discovered oil to be my favorite medium. I take occasional forays using acrylic ink, watercolor, and such. The source of imagery is unknown, flowing sometimes at a crawl and sometimes erupting explosively. My struggle is to keep my “self” out of the way. The work is better that way.
