Artists Statement
Loki is a brindle Pitbull Boxer mix who owns my daughter’s and daughter-in-law’s hearts. On first take, she seems a little scary because she is so muscular and has a very deep bark. But she is the sweetest dog! Always a little anxious but very well trained. I love to paint her because she has so many colors. As always, a black background is a challenge! Too little and it looks mottled and too much and you start moving the color and end up with a mottled look anyway.
Artist Bio
I’m Gina Brostmeyer and I work in watercolors and acrylics. My favorite subjects are anything that catches my interest or that I connect with; animals, landscapes, buildings and sometimes people. My latest challenge is to express moods with my art. During the Pandemic and even this summer, art allowed me to escape into a world of my own making and for hours, forget about Covid, heat, and smoke. My husband says I like it because there’s no people and sometimes that’s true, too. I entered my first juried art show in June and sold a painting and won an award.
