orange
orange is a fundamental color – not a primary color, but a fundamental one when it is
the color of decay, life-giving water and oxygen rust steel
the color of death for leaves before they fall
the color of life when water and sunlight support the algae that feed the insects that feed the birds
the color of opposites when wildfire smoke turns sunlight orange next to orange’s complement, the clear blue sky
the color of contrast between the ancient robes of a Buddhist monk as he uses a new technology
