Golden Winter Afternoon
Golden Winter Afternoon came about after multiple trips from Western Washington across the Palouse to drop off and pick up our daughter at WSU in Pullman. During those trips, I always had my camera out and ready to gather source photos for paintings.
I work in both pastels and oils (separately) going back and forth from one medium to the other depending on either the subject, inspiration, need, or if I’m painting outside (oils). My approach is somewhat the same for both – to use chunks of color in a very loose way thereby avoiding excessive detail.
