Artists Statement
Baa Baa Breakfast is one of several pastel paintings I’ve done as demos for art groups and shows. I tone the paper with a “screaming color” – orange, or pink, or red – and allow the tone to show through which helps to unify the image. I try to avoid too much realism when rendering the sheep which makes painting them fun.
Artist Bio
I work in both pastels and oils (separately) going back and forth from one medium to the other depending on either the subject, inspiration, need, or if I’m painting outside (oils). My approach is somewhat the same for both – to use chunks of color in a very loose way thereby avoiding excessive detail.
