CHILD at PLAY
Oils, 13 x 16
Artist Statement
Cooling waters move on by. The child seems to not notice. He is playing a game of filling a can and pouring its water into a bucket. With his head shrouded in a soft, cotton hat, he seems without a care, as the creek’s water kisses the rocks on a journey westward. Fish & other urchins hide beneath and some, tickle his toes. The sun warms his body and the rock makes a perfect chair.
Something within me prompts each painting. My paintings are personal & often, family themed. With each brush stroke the story begins to unfold. My Art sometimes appears in fox greeting cards. At other times, as a watercolored book illustration. My acrylic or oil paintings usually reflect my more serious side. Within each is a hidden part of me. The process is intense, with time & space disappearing. Slowly, concentrated movements produce what the mind conjures.
