Slalom Lights
Oil on canvas, 30 x 24
Artist Statement
I wanted to capture the internally-lit impression that waves in sunlight exude. This is midway in Slalom Rapid, South Fork of the Payette River. I started this piece on an early June evening, while my friends ran the river in kayaks at high flow. 6500 CFS
I work on location and from life whenever possible, celebrating natural and man-made forms and patterns. My favorite subjects are from personal experience, celebrating the special places and creatures that nurture curiosity and inspire joy. Though my artwork varies in subject and media, a central theme is to rejoice in the preciousness of our world.
