Artist Statement
“Hay Bales Nocturne,” an original oil on panel, I was inspired by the lay of the land East of Pittsburgh where there was a gap in the distance and the landscape took on a beautiful rolling tilted shape and form that seemed alive with energy that tugged everything into its folds in a nocturnal mystery under a July Moon.
Paul McMillan is a self-taught artist best known for his landscapes and still life paintings. Paul’s style ranges from classical to abstract and occasionally included his original poetry and music as subject matter. His artwork is strong in light, shadow and atmosphere, with deep, rich colors. Most of Paul’s paintings are created with a wet into wet color technique.
