Artist Statement
The artist uses watercolor and gouache with shades of grey seeking a chiaroscuro effect in an abstract piece titled Glimmer. The artist does have her own interpretation based on her own life experiences, but offers the viewer the opportunity to engage and create their own interpretation and story.
Mary Gardiner is an abstract expressionist and plein air painter who takes everyday experiences and interprets them using line, color, value, shape, and movement. Drawing and painting in a variety of media, Mary likes to feel emotion in the work she has produced. Mary is a member of Plein Air Painters of Idaho (PAPI), Treasure Valley Artists Association (TVAA), Idaho Watercolor Society (IWS), and Boise Art Museum (BAM).
