Sunflowers in Purple Vase
Hand-colored linocut
Artist Statement
At the end of the season, sunflowers get a little gnarly. They start squishing up and looking down. That’s when they are the most fun to draw!
I drew this image onto a linoleum, cut out the negative space, printed it onto white paper with printing ink, and colored it in with watercolor and gouache.
My imagery generally reflects this small slice of the world that is Idaho, and more, specifically, my garden and my memories. I hope I can spread a little joy and a few smiles!
