Boise: A City for Everyone (Flags Flying with Pride) – 2
Color photograph on canvas
Artist Statement
This photo in my series, “Boise: A City for Everyone,” conveys Boise’s motto in several ways. I included an historic Chinese building and the Idaho Statehouse as literal and symbolic backgrounds for our nation’s and city’s flags, which are proudly flying with the Pride flag in front of City Hall. Yes, we’re all in this together, and we have been for a long, long time!
Boise’s motto, “A City for Everyone,” means a lot to me, and I believe in it. When I have a chance to photograph something that conveys this message, I grab it. These images were NOT made with A.I. The bull elk WAS in my driveway; these flags DO fly at City Hall; Smokey Bear DID hover over downtown. It’s a joy to see and capture such fleeting moments, then share them with you!
