Artist Statement
Add early morning lighting and color with the vast size, the layers of geological time and the figurative shapes of the rock formations of the Sedona area and you have my insight for this painting. I strove to have the passage between the rock formations to be the focal point. Not including the sky in my landscapes is one of the transitions in my current body of work.
This past year my theme has been “Passages.” Not only do my paintings depict this theme but my thought process, development of my paintings and style have gone through an artistic passage. I’ve experimented with the development of my paintings combining painting from photos, life and my imagination. I’ve started using unique perspectives or unusual focal points. Even my approach when starting a painting has gone through a transition.
