    Eagle Arts Commission – “Art That’s Small at Eagle City Hall” Call for Artists

    “Art That’s Small at Eagle City Hall” is an open exhibition presented by the Eagle Arts Commission (EAC). No art piece is larger than 12″ x 12″ (including the frame). All works deemed acceptable will be exhibited at Eagle City Hall, 660 East Civic Lane, Eagle, Idaho from May 1, 2020 through May 31, 2020. There will be a Reception and Awards Ceremony at Eagle City Hall beginning 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2020.

    The Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts (LHUCA) is seeking a qualified muralist or collaborative mural
    team to create an outdoor mural on the LHUCA campus in Lubbock, TX.
    This project is made possible through a Cultural District Project Grant from the Texas Commission for the Arts and
    matching funds from individual and cooperate donors. Applications are due March 16, 2020. Selected semi-finalists
    will be asked be submit proposed mural renderings by April 10, 2020. Selected artist will install the mural at their
    convenience between May 1 – August 1, 2020.
    There is no specific theme for this mural. Entries that consider and/or play with the industrial façade of the
    building will be given priority.
    The mural will be located on the north side of the LHUCA Icehouse Building, 511 Ave J, Lubbock, TX. The exterior
    wall is approximately 72’ x 25’. A portion of the wall is covered by three large air ducts.
    Artists must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Artists
    who have a strong professional profile, experience in
    producing exterior public murals, and/or have successfully worked on collaborative projects are encouraged to
    apply. Artist teams are welcome to apply.
    Artist or artist teams will receive a $10,000 budget. This budget includes: all artist fees and costs associated with
    design, travel, site preparation,
    mural materials, shipping and transportation of materials, mural protective coating, and any other costs incurred by the artist for this project.
    LHUCA will provide needed lifts or scaffolding. LHUCA will also provide up to two weeks of on-site housing for the
    artist during mural installation (if the artist is not local).

    • CV/resume. Teams must submit one CV/resume per team member.
    • Letter of Interest, up to 1000 words. Applicants should briefly describe their interest in the project and
    include a brief description of their proposed concept/idea for the project.
    • Three (3) to five (5) images (two to three views of each piece for a total of 10 images max) of previously
    completed work that demonstrates an ability to design, create, and paint large scale, outdoor murals.
    • Optional. Artists may include up to three (3) selections of support materials such as reviews, news articles,
    professional references, and other related information.

    To help artists build a sustainable life in the arts, the Idaho Commission on the Arts offers My Artrepreneur Program™, an art-centered business development program taught by working artists. Registration is open for the 2020 Artrepreneur course to be held in Boise at the new Center for Visual Arts on the BSU campus. Artists attend four workshops over a period of six months.

  • The Gem Center for the Arts is a wonderfully unique building that houses artist studios, a black box theater, a dance studio, the Lounge at the End of the Universe, and a variety of office spaces.

    We currently have two vacant art studios available on the third floor. One is a 150 square foot studio featuring a large window with southern light and rents for $300 per month. The other is 600 square feet with large windows facing east and north and rents for $1000 per month. Three other studios of varying size and price will also be opening up in February. All studios include utilities, wifi, and free parking. This floor also features two large work sinks, a community kitchenette, and wall space in communal areas to hang your work.

    This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a great group of creatives, in a community that has amazing energy and a real desire to help each other succeed.
