Two Peppers and some pebbles having a conversation beneath the hydrangeas

Artist Statement
During the covid quarantine, I wanted to paint plein-air but was reluctant to travel. So I constructed this rather unusual still life/ foliage composition in my garden that would satisfy my urge to paint outside!
My favorite place to camp is alongside an active river. After absorbing the transient light, movement and sounds of the water, my attention was drawn to this isolated, rather brave young willow looking rather vulnerable to the elemental forces of the environment.
