Artist Statement
I’ve always loved gardening, especially growing flowers. In this image, I envision myself on my flower throne, surrounded by giant flowers with a basket of little blossoms in my lap. My hands are gnarly…what hands look like when they’ve spent years working with plants and soil!
Artist Bio
I read once that artists have one great picture/idea that they paint over and over again. Maybe, that’s true. I tend to be obsessed with flowers and women. I draw, paint, print them over and over again. I guess it’s just because that’s who I am. I have six sisters, and they have always been a subtext in my life. And flowers just provide such happiness and beauty to me and to those who stop for a second to enjoy them. What a luxury it is that I can spend time growing them and then painting them!
