I underestimated the pure awe I’d experience watching the total eclipse from my backyard in Greenville, SC. After much anticipation, it was over so fast, leaving me questioning if I dreamt the whole thing. My strongest memories of those fleeting minutes are color memories. As soon as the eclipse was over, I rushed to my studio in the hopes of capturing those surreal colors in my favorite medium: wool.
My needle felted landscape blends rich indigo, solid black, and the hazy blowtorch blues that seemed to evaporate from the sun. Every strand of dyed wool fiber paints the memory.
