The Great American Eclipse – A Ray of Hope in the Darkness
oil painting on canvas, 16 x 20″, 2017
Artist Statement
The United States is a multicultural territory, combining people from different origins (South East Asia, Africa, China, Japan and Middle East countries), Yet there are communal differences buried in their hearts; somehow they have not been able to completely embrace each other. The Great American Eclipse was a union where everyone joined together (@HobbleCreek Park, Boise) to capture the eclipse in different ways; the mental boundaries got blurred. The hands represent people trying to ‘capture’ (i.e. click) the eaten sun. The butterfly is me, trying to escape the differences of this materialistic world, into the oblivion of eclipse.
