Eclipse Over the Payette
watercolor, 11 x 15″, 2017, $325
Determined to be in the path of totality, we found a good spot to pull over in the early morning beside the Payette River. The anticipation built but the actual moment was what I was waiting for. So brief and yet so monumental. I’d been trying to take photos but I then just put the camera down and experienced it…It’s not something that can be captured well with realism. For this rendition I found myself channeling Japanese print style to capture the important parts – the moon as a solid part of the landscape, the eerie gold and blue “twilight”…..
