Tippy Didn’t Know the World Wasn’t Ending

as we watched through our glasses the orange disk was sectioned away. revelation: the moon came from above, not across. we glanced away every so often. there! the shadow bands rippling across the canvas tent. there! the sundappled shadows are all multitudinous miniatures of the skyward event. now! the chill. the last bit of orange disappears in our lenses and I shout Now! glasses off! my niece yells There It IS! the deepest possible blue, the hazy filmy corona, the absolute black disk. the herd of goats began vocalizing. the diamond ring appears, grows larger and I yell look away!
