I wasn’t able to go north with family to experience the eclipse in its entirety, but set up a tripod with a cardboard sheet and focused a binocular lense on it to watch the progress of the eclipse in our backyard. I also watched the shadows filtered through the leaves of trees and the effect they were having. It was fascinating to watch the eclipsed sun as it shadowed the house siding behind some Japanese Anemones. I took several photographs and used them to paint my impression of the flowers and how they looked in the eclipse.
