Oil & metal leaf on birch panel, 8″ x 8″ (unframed), $140
Nomia melander – Native to the western and southwestern United States with a preference for salty soils. I believe I saw this creature making a home in the sand before my very eyes one evening along the Colorado River in the Grand Canyon.
These works are from a 30-piece series exploring the fascinating and infinite underworld of bugs. These are under-laid with my new passion for metal-leafing, which promotes the precious qualities of these often under-appreciated creatures.
