The incredible bearded Iris stands tall in spring, welcoming sun and warmer weather. Impressive and statuesque, the abstracted, stylized “fleur-de-lis” of France, Brussels and Quebec, etc., was inspired by the Iris. Personally, I have been fascinated by them for many years and have many photographs of the bearded types, especially. Drawing them demands attention to the multitude of curves, shadows and delicate pedals on those sturdy stems.
I work at home with my dog, Garcia and sometimes with other artists. Drawing and painting have been my entertainment, pass-time, challenge, education, and growth –beginning with childhood. It is the tapestry I naturally weave through all aspects of my life. Sometimes I plan and many times I set out to just see what happens. Always an adventure; just like life!
