Mothers are Magic: Fire and Water
Mixed media oil pastel, pencil, paint pen, 14 x 18, $295
Identity is fluid, engulfing at one moment, and evaporating the next. Artist and Mother, these are roles which define my life. Finding the balance is like floating between worlds. These children have been grown from my body, held in my arms, tangled in my hair. They ground me as I raise them. Fire and Water are also aspects of my identity. Burning hot or diving deep, this duality often has me caught somewhere in-between. Like steam, I aspire to rise above the surface towards a higher self.
