Hiding in Plain Sight
Acrylic
Artist Statement
A self-portrait huh? I painted this to capture my best recollection of myself from the time of the long sexy brown hair to the short foxy red hair. Said hair remains short but is now, uh, seagull gray. And the mask, you ask? Maybe to hide from it all? Maybe to add that glam look? No, just because there’s no way I can paint human eyes that look like human eyes. I worked hard on this piece, I really pushed myself. Did I push too hard by adding that earring? I don’t think so. I hope you agree.
Artist Bio
It’s important to have fun with art, which I always try to do. I don’t take myself too seriously, but I take texture, color and movement VERY seriously. They’re what I’m about in my art. I don’t have one recognizable style (and no real formal training) but I do focus on the imaginative and try to show “the hand of the artist” in every piece I do. I have no agenda to press or viewpoint to share in my work, but strive to make art that people enjoy and feel comfortable around.
