Artist Statement
“Overwhelmed” is a self portrait that was created from my overwhelming feelings of anxiety. The picture was taken by me using my phone at a time when I was feeling exhausted emotionally. I wanted to try to capture what I was feeling in that moment and then create a piece using that picture that emulated how I was trying to keep it together. I used the same picture of myself in the companion piece “Put on a Face”. It just seemed appropriate. Created using my picture, and machine sewn metallic thread.
