Wax, Wire and Wood, encaustic with copper wire and birch bark
While on a walk I was inspired when I found a birch tree that was shedding its skin and knew I had to use it. I love combining natural items together and using them in a way that represents my contemporary esthetic. I love how natural elements bring a softness to my contemporary work. This past year I have been working in encaustic and found that combining the bark, handmade paper and a 1924 spool of super fine copper wire came together giving me the results I was looking for.
