As an artist, I’m drawn to peonies not only for their obvious beauty, but also for the challenge they present. Their dense layers of petals, folding towards a hidden center, demand layers of glaze, subtle blending, and moments of pause. It’s crucial to let the paint breathe and know when to rework. Painting peonies feels like learning to see truly; it requires patience in navigating layers of emotion and growth, ultimately seeking beauty within complexity.
