Artist Statement
The beautiful rock formations contained in the Owyhee Desert were the inspiration for this Painting “” Owyhee Strata.”” Christine Howard used warm colors found in the desert & off set them with a neutral gray, to give the viewer the feeling one gets when visiting the desert.
Boise artist Christine Howard, grew up in Idaho & Oregon and paints the impressive beauty of the Northwest. Christine is the daughter of an artist & educator mother & a rancher, forest ranger father. This upbringing afforded her the opportunity to experience the & appreciate the great outdoors. Plein Air Painting with her mother, as a child, she always felt art chose her, rather than visa versa.
