Artist Statement
When creating the abstract painting “Tipping Point,” Christine Howard attempted to visually depict the melting of the ice sheets, due to global warming. Cool analogous colors were used for the background ocean water, while white was used to depict the ice sheets breaking up. This process required quick reactions & thinking, the use of color theory & design elements.
Boise artist Christine Howard, grew up in Idaho & Oregon and paints the impressive beauty of the Northwest. Christine is the daughter of an artist & educator mother & a rancher, forest ranger father. This upbringing afforded her the opportunity to experience the & appreciate the great outdoors. Plein Air Painting with her mother, as a child, she always felt art chose her, rather than visa versa.
