Artist Statement
I painted this after a trip to the San Juan Islands in Washington. There was water everywhere (and trees) and I found myself inspired to capture some kind of water image. This was done on Yupo paper, which is an almost plastic surface. As a painter, you have very little control over what happens with the paint when it goes onto the paper, but it’s fun to use.
I’m Gina Brostmeyer and I work in watercolors and acrylics. My favorite subjects are anything that catches my interest or that I connect with; animals, landscapes, buildings and sometimes people.
Art allows me to escape and lose myself in the process of creating. It’s a lifeline for me, just like so many other artists.
I have won awards in watercolor and mixed media for my work.
