The King of the High Desert
Acrylic painting, 32″ x 26″
Artist Statement
The lizard and the landscape are acrylic renderings of the native wildlife and natural wonders from my hikes along the Snake River near Swann Falls, Idaho in the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area and discoveries of the untamed natural beauty of the Idaho desert.
As an artist I like telling visual stories or capturing a moment in time. What I enjoy doing is spending time exploring the surrounding countryside and hiking the trails near where I live or making discoveries in my backyard, looking for inspiration to create stories and to spark my imagination. To document what I see I will bring a camera, sketchbooks and a small portable watercolor kit with paper and brushes. Later I will use them in my art studies, or they may become finished paintings.
