In Cuba every city we visited, there were men sitting around playing Dominos. These gentlemen are in Old Havana. Note they are balancing the board on their knees.
For the last forty years, the human form has been at the center of my artistic focus. My subjects are people, because I find painting the human figure challenging and rewarding. When looking for a subject I look for someone who has an interesting face or an unusual presence. Faces talk to me even when a person is silent. I believe that a true portrait must be both a likeness of the subject and an artistic interpretation. I STRIVE TO TELL STORIES THROUGH MY WORK, USING VIBRANT COLOR COMBINED WITH A REALISTIC STYLE, TO EVOKE AN EMOTIONAL RESPONSE.
